# Maintenance emergency

> What counts as a maintenance emergency at an Entrust-managed property, who to call, and what to do first.

## Where anyone is in danger, call 911 first

Fire, gas, injury, or a threat to safety goes to 911 before it goes to Entrust. Nothing on this page is a reason to delay that call.

## Then call Entrust Investments

This line is answered Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Central. Outside those hours it takes a message, which is collected at the start of the next working day.

If a home is unsafe outside those hours, do not wait for the office to open. Call 911 where there is any danger. For a burst pipe or a flood, shut the water off at the main. For an electrical fault, switch the circuit off at the fuse box. Then leave a message on the line, and photograph the damage. That record matters for the repair and for any claim.

## What counts as an emergency

- Fire, or the smell of gas: leave the building, then call 911. Do not switch lights on or off, and do not use anything electrical on the way out.
- Anyone is hurt or in danger: call 911 first. Entrust can be told afterwards.
- Water that cannot be stopped: shut the water off at the main if it can be reached safely, then call. Where water is near electrical outlets or a fuse box, do not touch either.
- No heat, or no cooling in dangerous heat: call, and say if the home is unsafe to stay in overnight. That changes what happens next.
- The home cannot be secured: a door or window that will not lock is an emergency, and it is treated as one.

## What does not need a call tonight

A dripping tap, an appliance that has stopped, a slow drain, pests, or heating that runs but performs poorly in mild weather are all repairs rather than emergencies. They are logged as a maintenance request and scheduled in working hours. Reporting one as an emergency does not make it happen sooner, and it occupies a line somebody else may need.

Neither is watched continuously. An emergency is reported by phone, every time, on (615) 488-8784.
